Tufted perennial herbs. Roots fibrous. Leaves distichous, basal. Inflorescence a cymose panicle. Flowers bisexual, petals slightly broader than sepals, free; stamens 6, filaments fusiform, papillate, anthers basifixed, recurved or coiled after dehiscence; ovary superior, 3-locular, ovules few to many per locule; style short, filiform, stigma minute, capitate. Fruit a loculicidally dehiscent capsule; seeds oblong, angular, shiny black.
3 species, endemic in temperate eastern Australia; 2 in Victoria.
