Sematophyllum subhumile

Dioicous. Asexual reproduction occasionally by gemmae on leaf margins. Tufts on tree trunks and branches, logs and rocks. Stems 1–2 cm long, irregularly branched, with rhizoids in fascicles on ventral surface, central strand absent. Leaves homomallous, linear-lanceolate, 1–1.5 mm long, 0.35–0.4 mm wide, concave, erecto-patent or spreading when moist, similar when dry; costa absent; apex acute or acuminate; margins entire, plane or narrowly reflexed; laminal cells narrowly-linear, 40–70 μm long, 4–7 μm wide; alar cells usually 2–4 in alar angles, slightly to strongly inflated, oblong or subquadrate, 47–70 μm long, 12–28 μm wide, hyaline or pale yellow. Setae 7–10 mm long, red, smooth. Capsules obovate or oblong-cylindric, erect to pendent, straight, 1–1.5 mm long. Operculum rostrate from conic base, 1–1.5 mm long.
