Decumbent to suberect shrub, to c. 20 cm high, 50 cm diam. Leaves linear to narrow-elliptic, semi-terete, 6–16 mm long, densely white-woolly. Flowers 8–16, united into woolly spherical axillary clusters. Aggregate fruit woolly, burr-like, 10–15 mm diam., woody in the central part, perianth lobes developing hard, tapered, sometimes hooked spines 3–6 mm long. Fruits most of year.
MuM, Wim, MSB, RobP, MuF, GipP. All mainland states. Locally common in light mallee scrubs, woodland and low shrubland developed on sandy loam soils north and west from Robinvale district.
