Riccardia graeffei
(Steph.) HewsonMonoicous. Gemmae often produced in profusion near apex. Prostrate. Thallus bi- to tripinnate, 5–20 (–30) mm long, 0.5–1.5 mm wide, plane dorsally and convex ventrally or biconvex in transverse section, with an acute and winged margin, 3–6 cells thick, with a notch at apex that is not overtopped by growth and is protected by ventral mucilage papillae that persist in two rows, with a smooth cuticle. Oil bodies 1–10 per cell, some cells without oil bodies. Calyptra 2–4 (–5) mm long, scattered along calyptra and forming a rough cap of loosely aggregated cells near apex.
VVP, WPro, HSF. Rare in Victoria along creeks in rainforests and tree fern dominated gullies in the Otways, Yarra Ranges, Strzelecki Ranges, Wilsons Promontory and East Gippsland. Also, Western Australia, Queensland, New South Wales, Tasmania and Asia north to the Ryuku Islands, through to the islands of the Pacific.
