Kunzea peduncularis × Kunzea phylicoides sensu Census Vasc. Pl. Victoria edn 7, 98, 201 (2003)

sensu Census Vasc. Pl. Victoria edn 7, 98, 201 (1996)

Occurrence status:Excluded

Remarks:

There has been confusion around the application of the names Kunzea sp. 1 sensu  Fl. Victoria 3:1022 (1996), K. phylicoides and Kunzea peduncularis × Kunzea phylicoides sensu Census Vasc. Pl. Victoria edn 7, 98, 201 (2003). Previously this hybrid has been attributed to Kunzea sp. 1 sensu  Fl. Victoria 3:1022 (1996), with uncertainty around the application of the name K. phylicoides. However, the type of K. phylicoides appears to match material previously included in Kunzea sp. 1 sensu  Fl. Victoria 3:1022 (1996). Hence, the distinctive and locally abundant shrub of rocky verges of east Gippsland rivers is now treated as K. phylicoides. Localised in the Snowy River/MacKillops Bridge area is a somewhat intermediate form which is regarded as a hybrid between K. peduncularis and K. phylicoides. Further work is required to determine the status of this hybrid.
