Leaves shortly petiolate, oblanceolate to obovate, 1.5–8 cm long, 6–30 mm wide, rounded at apex, surfaces variably pubescent to glabrescent, margins almost entire, usually conspicuously fringed at least when young. Flowers on decumbent or ascending scapes to 5(–10) cm long, usually much shorter than leaves, often appearing sessile; bracteoles linear, to 5 mm long, free. Sepals 3, free, ovate to oblong, 5–6 mm long, ciliate; corolla 7–10 mm long, pubescent outside and inside, yellow, wings to 0.5 mm wide; indusium depressed-ovate, with scattered long hairs around base and short bristles at orifice. Capsule subglobose, 2–3 mm diam., sparsely hairy to glabrous; seeds orbicular to elliptic, 1–2 mm diam., punctate, wingless. Flowers mainly Nov.–Feb.
EGU, HSF, HNF, MonT, VAlp. Also NSW, ACT, Tas. Locally common in the eastern ranges of Victoria, on margins of alpine and subalpine bogs and moist grasslands.
