Vegatatively similar to L. palustris, but distinguished by its pedunculate flowers with short, readily deciduous yellow petals. Flowers Jan.–Mar. (2 records).
GipP. A popular cultivated hybrid grown as an aquarium plant. Recorded as an aggressive weed in a pond in the Melbourne suburb of Wantirna.
Not observed to produce seed, plants apparently spreading vegetatively, and currently restricted to the margins of a single pond.
