Trachymene cyanopetala
(F.Muell.) Benth. Purple TrachymeneAscending to erect, glabrescent annual to 15 cm high. Leaves basal and cauline, ternately dissected, lobes oblong to narrow-cuneate, 5–15 mm long, sometimes again lobed or toothed; petioles subequal to lamina, ciliate at their sheathing bases. Umbels (1–)few-numerous, usually cymosely arranged, 3–6-flowered; peduncle 5–15 mm long (to 30 mm in fruit); involucral bracts 4 or 5, ovate to obovate, 1.5–3 mm long, ciliate; pedicels shorter than bracts (slightly exceeding bracts in fruit). Petals obovate, 0.5–1 mm long, blue; stamens subequal to petals; styles c. 0.3 mm long. Mericarps c. 3 mm long, 2 mm wide (excluding hairs), hirsute to villous with (usually) purplish hairs, both of each pair equally developed. Flowers Aug.–Oct.
LoM, MuM, RobP, Gold. Also WA, SA, Qld, NSW. Locally common in sandy mallee communities in the far north-west of the State, with a disjunct occurrence in mallee on rocky ground near Inglewood.
