Hedysarum

L.
Taxonomic status Not accepted

The Mediterranean species Hedysarum coronarium L. (French Honeysuckle) is occasionally grown for fodder or as an ornamental but it does not appear to have become naturalised in Victoria as it has in Queensland. It is an annual or short-lived perennial herb to 1 m tall with imparipinnate leaves, dense clusters of showy carmine (rarely white) flowers and flattened pods that break into 2–4 prickly articles.
