Riccardia colensoi
(Steph.) W.MartinDioicious. Specialised asexual propagules absent. Forming decumbent mats. Thallus bi- or tripinnate, (5–) 10–30 (–50) mm long, (0.5–) 1–2 (–2.5) mm wide, plane adaxially and convex ventrally or biconvex in transverse section, with obtuse to acute margin, 6–11 cells thick, with a distinct notch at apex that gets overtopped by growth on both sides and protected by ventral non-persistent mucilage papillae; dorsal epidermal cells with a single conical papilla thickened at apex. Oil bodies throughout, 1–2 per cell, some cells without oil bodies. Calyptra 2–3 (–4) mm long, with pachydermal cells forming a rough cap of loosely aggregated cells near apex.
OtP, WPro, HSF, OtR, Strz, VAlp. Rarely recorded in Victoria on rocks and soil from creeks and around waterfalls in the highest rainfall regions east from the Otways. Also, New South Wales, Australian Capital Territory, Tasmania and New Zealand.
