Perennial rhizomatous herb to 40 cm high; rhizome blackish, far-creeping; stem erect, few-branched. Basal leaves ovate, 8–38 cm long, 7–28 cm wide, apex acuminate, base cordate with petiole 10–25 cm long; cauline leaves 5–7 cm long, 2–3 cm wide, sessile, amplexicaul. Bracts elliptic-lanceolate to oblanceolate, 0.8–1 cm long, acute, sessile; calyx 2–4 mm long in flower, 5–8 mm long in fruit, lobes triangular; corolla 10–14 mm long; anthers 2 mm long; filaments 8–9 mm long, hairy. Mericarps 1–2 mm long. Flowers spring.
CVU, VAlp. Recorded on a roadside of exotic vegetation on Mount Macedon. Native to regions surrounding the Black Sea in eastern Europe and western Asia.
