Fissidens curvatus
Hornsch.Asexual propagules absent. Scattered stems or turfs on soil, yellow-green. Stems 1–5 (–8) mm long, unbranched, yellow, central strand present, rhizoids near base only. Leaves linear-lanceolate, slightly contorted when dry, 0.5–2 mm long, 0.15–0.5 mm wide, flat; costa subpercurrent to long-excurrent; apex acute to acuminate, often cuspidate. Dorsal laminae with entire margins, without a border or with a distinct border of 2–5 rows of narrower elongate cells; cells away from margin hexagonal to rhomboid or rectangular, (5–) 8–15 (–23) μm long, (5–) 7–11 (–14) μm wide, smooth. Vaginant laminae to 1/2–2/3 (–3/4) leaf length, half open to closed, margins entire, with a distinct border of 2–5 rows of narrower elongate cells. Polyoicous. Seta 2.5–5 mm long, yellow. Capsule ovate, inclined, curved; theca 0.6–1 mm long. Calyptra smooth, cucullate. Operculum rostrate from a conic base, 0.4–0.55 mm long. Peristome teeth bifid.
