Patersonia occidentalis var. occidentalis
Tufted herb. Leaves linear-ensiform, 8–55 cm long, 2–10 mm wide, glabrous, except margin sometimes with brown hairs. Inflorescence with scape 10–80 cm long, glabrous, clasped by 1 reduced leaf. Primary bracts elliptic to ovate, 3–5 cm long, brown, glabrous or covered with minute hairs on medial outer surface; margin dry, membranous and brown-streaked for a width of c. 1 mm; involucre 7–20 mm wide; inner (secondary) bracts slightly exserted. Perianth tube 2.5–4 cm long, hairy; outer perianth lobes ovate, 2–3.5 cm long, 1.2–2.2 cm wide, obtuse; inner perianth lobes narrowly ovate. Staminal filaments 4–7 mm long, almost completely united. Ovary hairy. Capsule cylindric, 1.8–2.5 cm long; seeds compressed-ovoid, 2–3 mm long, dark brown; aril absent. Flowers (Apr.–)Sep.–Dec.(–Jan.)
