Erect, perennial or biennial herbs, usually taprooted, more or less pubescent. Leaves simple or pinnate with leaflets broad, toothed to deeply lobed; petiole sheathing at base. Inflorescence a compound umbel, terminal and axillary on a common peduncle. Flowers bisexual; sepals absent or minute; petals with inrolled apex; nectary depressed-conical. Fruit elliptic to obovate, dorsally very flattened; mericarps with lateral winged ribs, other ribs slender; carpophore split to base.
About 15 species, from temperate Eurasia; 1 species naturalised in Australia.
