Fissidens dietrichiae
Müll.Hal.Asexual propagules absent. Tufts on soil or on rocks in water. Stems 5–40 mm long, occasionally branched, brown, central strand present, with rhizoids at branch bases and axils of older leaves. Leaves elliptic to obovate, curled when dry, 1.1–2 mm long, 0.3–0.7 mm wide, flat; costa percurrent; apex obtuse and apiculate. Apical and dorsal laminae with entire or weakly serrulate margins, with 1–3 rows of thicker walled cells forming a border failing near apex and sometimes also at base, cells away from margin ±isodiametric, hexagonal, 7–20 μm long, 10–18 μm wide, smooth, uniform along length. Vaginant laminae up to 1/2–3/4 leaf length, ±closed, with up to 5 marginal rows of thicker-walled cells forming a border. Dioicous or synoicous. Seta 4–10 mm long, light brown. Capsule oblong, inclined to vertical, curved; theca 0.8–1.5 mm long. Operculum conic, 0.3–0.7 mm long. Peristome teeth bifid.
