Andreaea flabellata
Müll.Hal.Stems 5–10 (–15) mm long. Leaves erect-spreading when moist, appressed or with the tips erect spreading when dry, linear- to oblong-lanceolate, 0.9–1.3 mm long, 0.2–0.25 mm wide; apices narrowly acute or acuminate, variably flexed; costae absent; margins entire or rarely crenate near base, incurved, not bordered; cells in apical half papillose, unistratose, rounded-quadrate or irregular, 7.5–14 μm long, 7.5–10 μm wide; cells at base near margins mostly rectangular, 5–25 μm long, to c. 45 μm long toward middle, 7.5–14 μm wide. Perigonial paraphyses absent. Perichaetial leaves convolute and sheathing. Pseudopodium c. 1 mm long. Capsules c. 0.25 mm long. Turgid spores 21–35 μm diameter; shrivelled spores 15–24 μm diameter.
GGr, HNF, VAlp. Recorded in the Grampians, Mount Buffalo, the Bogong High Plains and the Wombargo Range on exposed rocks above 1000 metres. Also NSW, ACT and Tas. New Zealand, southern South America and Macquarie, Campbell, Kerguelen, Heard and Tristan da Cunha Islands.
