Annual or perennial herbs with glandular hairs, often strongly (and unpleasantly) scented. Leaves alternate, usually 3-foliate; pulvinus present at base of petiole, stipules minute. Flowers appearing somewhat zygomorphic; petals turned to apical side of flower; stamens 8–32, unequal. Capsule erect, cylindrical, usually inflated, glandular, dehiscent in distal half, pedicellate.
