Tuber absent. Stem reduced. Leaves in convex to almost flat basal rosette, spathulate, 8–20 mm long; stipules apparently absent but fused to base of leaves, 1–2(–2.5) mm long. Inflorescence axillary, 1–4(–8), 15–90 mm long, racemose, c. 7–many-flowered; bracts absent; pedicels 2–5 mm long, reflexed after flowering; sepals 5, ovate, 3–5 mm long, hairy, laciniate; petals 5, obovate, 4–5 mm long, orange or red; styles 3, each distally divided 2 or 3 times. Flowers Aug.–Nov.

Brid, CVU, DunT, EGL, EGU, GipP, Glep, Gold, GGr, HSF, LoM, MuM, NIS, OtP, OtR, VRiv, VVP, Wim. Also WA, SA, NSW, Tas. Occurs in sandy loam to heavy loam soils in heathland, mallee and open-forest.
