Fissidens taylorii
Müll.Hal.Asexual propagules absent or rarely with rhizoidal gemmae. In scattered clusters on soil. Stems 2–4 mm long, simple or branched, central strand indistinct or absent, with rhizoids at stem and branch bases. Leaves oblong to lanceolate, little altered when dry, 0.3–0.85 mm long, flat; costa subpercurrent or percurrent; apex obtuse to acute, sometimes apiculate. Apical and dorsal laminae margins entire to minutely serrulate, without a border; cells irregularly quadrate to hexagonal, (6–) 7.5–20 μm long, (5–) 8–12 μm wide, smooth. Vaginant laminae 2/3–4/5 leaf length, half open to almost fully closed, without a border or with 1–several rows of elongate cells forming a border. Autoicous or possibly dioicous. Seta to 2–6 mm long, straw-coloured to brown. Capsule oblong, inclined to vertical, curved; theca c. 0.6 mm long. Calyptra smooth, mitrate. Operculum rostellate from a conic base, 0.5–0.6 mm long. Peristome teeth bifid or entire.
