Two varieties, with one occurring in Victoria. Leptotheca gaudichaudii var. wattsii is endemic to Tasmania and has a percurrent or slightly excurrent costa rather than the distinctly excurrent costa of Leptotheca gaudichaudii var. gaudichaudii.
