Stems simple to much branched near apex, c. 5 cm long (rarely to 15 cm). Leaves erecto-patent to spreading, rarely squarrose when dry, narrowly lanceolate to lanceolate, (1.9–) 2.3–3.9 mm long, 0.3–0.7 mm wide, sometimes plicate at base; apex acuminate; costa long-excurrent; margin serrate, rarely serrulate toward the apex, plane or slightly recurved near base; mid-laminal cells rectangular to linear, 42–90 μm long, 3–5 μm wide; alar cells absent or subquadrate to short-rectangular, to 30 μm long, to 10 μm wide, in c. 3 or 4 rows of up to 5 cells. Seta c. 15 mm long. Capsules erect to inclined or horizontal, ovoid to cylindric, sulcate when dry.
