Ptychostomum altisetum
(Müll.Hal.) J.R.Spence & H.P.RamsaySynoicous. Loose or dense tufts on soil or rock, yellowish green, to 10 mm tall. Leaves in comal tuft, erecto-patent when moist, appressed and straight to somewhat crisped when dry, ovate-lanceolate to oblong-lanceolate, 1.5–3 mm long, ±concave; apex acuminate; costa short- to long-excurrent; margin finely denticulate toward apex, recurved, with 3–4 rows of narrow cells forming a border; laminal cells in apical half 40–70 μm long, 10–15 μm wide; basal laminal cells long-rectangular; alr cells inflated, reddish. Seta 10–20 mm long. Capsules inclined to pendulous, narrowly pyriform, 1.5–3.5 mm long, symmetric. Peristome reduced with a low basal membrane; cilia rudimentary or 1 or 2 and short.
