Goodenia varia
R.Br. Sticky GoodeniaDecumbent, ascending to sometimes erect shrub to 1 m high, viscid when young, glabrous; young stems slightly ribbed. Leaves elliptic to orbicular, 2–4 cm long, 1–2 cm wide, acute to obtuse, margins almost entire or faintly to coarsely irregularly toothed; petiole to c. 5 mm long. Inflorescences leafy terminal thyrses or racemes to 15 cm long; peduncles to c. 10 mm long; pedicels articulate, to c. 3 mm long; bracteoles narrow-triangular, 0.8–1.5 mm long, sometimes absent. Sepals linear, 2–5 mm long; corolla 8–18 mm long, with a few hairs inside, yellow, abaxial lobes 5–8 mm long, wings c. 1.5 mm wide; indusium broad-obovate; ovules to c. 16. Fruit cylindric, 8–10 mm long, valves entire; seeds oblong, 2–2.5 mm long, pale brown, bristly or reticulate, wing very narrow. Flowers mainly Oct.–Mar.
LoM, MuM, Wim, VVP, VRiv, RobP, MuF, Gold. Also WA, SA, NSW. Widespread in north-western Victoria, with outlying occurrences near Bendigo and Long Forest, mostly in woodland and mallee communities.
