Interwoven mats on logs and tree trunks, rarely on rocks and soil. Stems irregularly or pinnately branched. Stem leaves evenly arranged around the stem or complanate, broadly ovate, ovate to lanceolate-ovate; costae extending (45–) 55–70% of leaf length, not ending in abaxial spine; apices acuminate; margins denticulate toward apices, plane; cells (65–) 73.5–153.5 (–172) μm long, (7.5–) 8–13 μm wide. Setae 15–31 mm long, red-brown, smooth. Capsules horizontal, cylindric, slightly curved.
EGL, HNF. Recorded a few times in Victoria from warm-temperate rainforest and moist gullies among dry-sclerophyll forest in Gippsland. Also QLD, NSW, ACT and Tas.
