Stems pendent, subpinnately branched, orange- to dark brown, with brown rhizoids restricted to base. Leaves erect-spreading when moist, appressed to erect-spreading when dry, subelliptic, 1–1.7 mm long, 0.4–1 mm wide, concave at base; apices obtuse; costae single, extending c. 85% of leaf length; margins entire or weakly serrulate toward apex, plane to somewhat recurved, without a border; cells mostly rhomboid, 10–28 μm long, 6–13 μm wide, smooth to minutely prorate, becoming more elongate at base near costa, to 70 μm long. Perichaetial leaves oblong-lanceolate, 1.8–2.8 mm long, 0.45–0.9 mm wide, with excurrent costa. Seta to c. 0.25 mm long. Capsules erect, obloid to ellipsoid, 1.2–1.5 mm long, straight, yellow-brown. Calyptra smooth. Opercula rostrate, 0.3–0.6 mm long.

GleP, GipP, OtP, EGL, EGU, HSF, OtR, Strz. Close to creeks and rivers in rainforest and riparian forest throughout southern Victoria. Also Qld, NSW and Tas. New Zealand.
