Rhizome thick, scaly. Stipe articulated to rhizome, glabrous except at base. Fronds pinnate; lamina glabrous or sometimes with glandular hairs or few scales in young fronds; pinnae lobes near sori often incurved. Sori submarginal; indusium semi-cylindric, cup-shaped.
34 species from Africa, Europe, Asia and the Pacific; 4 occurring in Australia, only 1 in Victoria.
