Perennial subshrubs to c. 20 cm high. Leaves alternate, sessile, fleshy. Flowers bisexual, solitary in axils, each subtended by a pair of bracteoles; tepals 5, free, papery, 1- or 3-nerved; stamens 5, shortly united at base; ovary 1-ovulate; style bifid. Fruit an indehiscent, membranous utricle; seeds ovoid to subreniform.
Endemic Australian monotypic genus.
