Grimmia pulvinata
(Hedw.) Sm.Gonautoicous. Asexual propagules absent. Cushions on rock and occasionally soil or tree trunks, greyish green. Stems 2–20 mm long, brown, with sparse red-brown rhizoids near base, central strand present. Leaves patent to spreading when moist, erecto-appressed or somewhat flexuous apically when dry, lingulate to elliptic, 1–2.4 mm long, 0.3–0.6 mm wide, keeled; apex obtuse to acute, with a hairpoint; hairpoint hyaline, smooth to weakly denticulate, to 1.9 mm long; costa excurrent as a hairpont; margins entire, recurved from 1/3 to 1/2–2/3 leaf length; laminal cells in apical half quadrate, isodiametric, 5–14 μm long, 5–10 μm wide, smooth, unistratose except for 2 bistratose marginal rows and occasional streaks in apical 2/3, sinuose, not or slightly incrassate, gradually transitioning to basal laminal cells; basal laminal cells rectangular to quadrate, 10–70 μm long, 7–20 μm wide, smooth, straight walled or sinuose. Setae 2.5–4 mm long, yellowish, smooth, not twisted or twisted anticlockwise. Capsules exserted, erect to pendent, ellipsoid or ovoid, 1–1.2 mm long, yellowish to brown, symmetric. Operculum short-rostrate, 0.1–0.3 mm long. Calyptra mitrate. Peristome present.
