Unipapillose cells absent or present in very few branch leaves. Setae to c. 2(–2.5) cm long. Capsules to c. 2.5 mm long.

Along and south of the Great Dividing Range in moist sites in sclerophyll forest and woodland and in rainforests and beside creeks from sea-level to within the alpine zone. Also WA, SA, QLD, NSW, Tas, and Lord Howe and Norfolk Islands. Malesia to Pacific Islands in the Southern Hemisphere and South America.
