Buglossoides arvensis
(L.) I.M.Johnst. SheepweedAnnual herb, 20–45 cm high, erect or ascending; branches densely covered with appressed hairs. Leaves densely appressed-hairy, apex obtuse, margins entire; rosette leaves oblanceolate to spathulate, 2–10 cm long, 2–15 mm wide; cauline leaves oblanceolate to oblong-elliptic. Bracts longer than sepals. Flowers on pedicels 1–2 mm long, elongating to c. 4 mm in fruit; sepals linear, 4–6 mm long, acute, elongating to c. 15 mm in fruit, hairy; corolla 6–7 mm long, white to cream, lobes oblong, 1–2 mm long, much shorter than tube; stamens inserted just below middle of corolla-tube. Mericarps 3–4 mm long, densely tuberculate, inner surface ridged, pale brown. Flowers Aug.–Feb.
