Erect, often branched, rhizomatous perennial herbs. Roots fibrous. Leaves distichous, numerous; petioles resupinate. Inflorescence a reduced axillary cyme, or flowers solitary. Flowers bisexual, petals and sepals free, subequal; stamens 6, anthers basifixed; ovary superior; style deeply trifid, stigmas 3, subulate. Fruit a berry; seeds ovoid to sub-globose, yellowish-brown.
2 species, endemic in eastern Australia, 1 in Victoria.
