Dioicous. Asexual reproduction by broadly ellipsoid bulbils in leaf axils of sterile shoots or sometimes by white to pale tan stem tubers. Dense tufts on soil, reddish green, often appearing hoary due to hyaline hairpoints. Rhizoids red to red-brown. Leaves broadly ovate, 1.5–2 mm long, weakly concave; costa strong, excurrent as a hairpoint; hairpoint hyaline, toothed; margin entire to finely serrulate, revolute at least in basal half, without a border; laminal cells in apical half hexagonal-rhomboidal, 30–50 μm long, 10–15 μm wide; basal cells quadrate, often wider than long in alar region. Seta c. 15 mm long, red-brown, smooth. Capsule ovate, 1.5–2 mm long. Operculum dome-shaped, apiculate.
