Trees, densely covered with minute scurfy scales, sometimes glabrescent with age. Leaves alternate, petiolate, entire. Flowers bisexual, solitary in upper leaf-axils; epicalyx fused, cup-shaped, caducous, or reduced to a ridge surrounding the base of the calyx; calyx 5-lobed, cup-shaped; petals 5, free, cream to pink, with stellate scales; stamens numerous; staminal column c. half the length of corolla; ovary 5-locular; ovules 2–several per locule; style 1; stigmas 5, capitate. Fruit a capsule dehiscing loculicidally and eventually septicidally; seeds reniform, glabrous.
2 species, endemic to Australia (1 from Lord Howe and Norfolk Islands and 1 from Queensland).
