Asexual propagules absent. Mats or tufts on rock in flowing water. Stems 6–20 mm long, occasionally branched, central strand narrow, with abundant rhizoids at bases and sparse in leaf axils. Leaves linear, unaltered when dry, 1.25–2 mm long, flat; costa subpercurrent; apex acute to narrowly obtuse. Apical and dorsal laminae margins minutely crenulate, without a border; cells away from margin ±isodiametric, ±quadrate to hexagonal, 6–9 μm wide, smooth. Vaginant laminae c. 3/5 leaf length, closed, without a border. Autoicous. Seta to 2 mm long, straw-coloured to brown. Capsule oblong, inclined to vertical, curved; theca c. 0.6 mm long. Calyptra smooth, mitrate. Operculum rostrate from a conic base, 0.5–0.6 mm long. Peristome teeth bifid.
