Fissidens integerrimus
Mitt.Asexual propagules absent. Mats or loosely gregarious on rocks in water or embankments of creeks. Stems 5–25 mm long, simple or branched, central strand narrow, with rhizoids at bases of main stems, branches and occasionally in leaf axils. Leaves oblong-lanceolate, curled when dry, 1–2 mm long, flat; costa subpercurrent; apex acute or obtuse. Apical and dorsal laminae with weakly serrulate margins by projecting cells, without a border; cells ±isodiametric, subquadrate to hexagonal, 10–15 μm wide, smooth. Vaginant laminae up to 1/2–2/3 leaf length, open to half-closed, with 1–3 marginal rows of linear elongate cells forming a distinct border or rarely a border indistinct or absent. Dioicous or autoicous. Seta 2–3 mm long, straw-coloured. Capsule elliptic, inclined to vertical, straight; theca 0.6–0.8 mm long. Calyptra slightly scabrous at apex, mitrate. Operculum rostrate from a conic base, 0.6–0.8 mm long. Peristome teeth bifid.
GipP, EGL, HSF, MonT, HFE, VAlp. Rarely recorded in creeks and waterfalls from Kinglake National Park eastwards. Also Tas. New Zealand.
