Perennial (sometimes short-lived), herbs, subshrubs or shrubs. Leaves entire or lobed (not in Victoria), sometimes absent (not in Victoria). Inflorescence terminal or leaf-opposed, mostly a compound umbel. Flowers bisexual; sepals minute or absent; petals ovate or oblong, at first inflexed, later spreading; nectary flat. Fruit more or less laterally compressed; mericarps ovoid to more or less circular in outline, narrowed at mericarp junction, dorsal rib prominent, sometimes winged; carpophore persistent, undivided.
About 25 species, endemic to the Australian mainland.
