Leaves petiolate; basal leaves pinnate, to 20 cm long, with large terminal lobe, lateral segments few, ovate or oblong; stem leaves becoming smaller, lanceolate and entire towards inflorescence. Sepals 2.5–5 mm long; petals 5–10 mm long, white; stamens 6. Fruit ascending, linear, straight or slightly curved, 15–60 mm long (excluding style), 1–2 mm wide; style 2–6 mm long; pedicels spreading to reflexed, 9–15 mm long; seeds in 1 row per locule, coat reticulate. Flowers mostly spring–summer.

The leaves are always petiolate (not sagittate) and at least the lower ones pinnately divided.
