Perennial herbs or shrubs, hairy. Leaves in basal rosette and cauline, entire to pinnately lobed. Inflorescence a raceme. Sepals erect to spreading, inner pair somewhat hooded; petals clawed, white or lavender; stamens 6. Fruit terete or quadrangular, usually 2–3 times as long as broad, dehiscent; style linear, slender; valves with prominent midvein; seeds in 2 irregular rows.
