Erect, ascending or prostrate annual or perennial, to 100 cm high; stems rooting at nodes, with short appressed hairs. Leaves narrow-ovate to elliptic, 3–10 cm long, 5–15 mm wide, entire to serrulate, surfaces densely strigose. Capitula hemispherical, solitary or in pairs in leaf axils or terminal, 3–4 mm wide at anthesis; peduncles 1–6 cm long; involucral bracts 5 or 6, oblong, 4–5 mm long, strigose, acute. Ray florets (24–)45–65; ligules 1–2 mm long, white; disc florets (10–)20–45, white. Cypselas obovoid, c. 2.5 mm long, tuberculate, light-brown to black; pappus absent or a minute ring of teeth. In Victoria recorded flowering in Feb. Flowers throughout the year in northern Australia.
