Annual herbs, glandular-pubescent or glabrescent. Leaves alternate, entire, dentate or lobate. Capitula radiate, solitary or in terminal corymbs; involucral bracts 1–2-seriate, with broad scarious margins; receptacle flat to convex, ebracteate, glabrous. Ray florets female, yellow or orange, tube hairy; disc florets bisexual, functionally male, tubular, 5-lobed, yellow with blackish-purple lobes; anthers with triangular apical appendages, tailed at base; style minutely bifid with an apical ring of hairs. Cypselas homomorphic, triquetrous, 3-winged, with a window on an apical tangential face. Pappus absent.
2 species from South Africa and Namibia; 1 naturalized in Australia.
