Chrysanthemoides monilifera subsp. rotundata
(DC.) Norl. Bitou BushLeaf lamina obovate to broadly obovate or broadly elliptic, 1.5–5.5 cm wide, base abruptly attenuate, margins mostly entire. Inner involucral bracts c. lanceolate, usually with glabrous, entire margins. Ray florets 5–13, ligules 8–10 mm long. Fruit obovoid to ellipsoid. Flowers Sep.–Oct.
VVP, GipP, EGL. Also naturalised WA, Qld, NSW. Native to southern Africa. A mainly littoral taxon, well-established in New South Wales where formerly planted as a dune stabiliser. Recorded from Victoria on rocky cliffs overlooking the Yarra River at Studley Park, Kew, and in coastal dune scrub at Mallacoota. Attempts to eradicate both populations have been made, but further outbreaks can be anticipated. Hybrids with subsp. monilifera occur at Studley Park.
