Sclerochlamys brachyptera
F.Muell. Short-wing SaltbushDecumbent or prostrate shrub, to c. 15 cm high and 40 cm diam., branches and leaves long-villous, appearing greyish. Leaves linear, 6–12 mm long, somewhat fleshy. Fruiting perianth c. 1.5 mm high, 2.5–3 mm diam. (including rim or narrow wing). Fruits mostly spring-summer.
LoM, MuM, Wim, VRiv, MSB, RobP, MuF. Inland areas of all mainland states. Occurs on river flats and in open mallee scrubs developed on heavier soils, often in Eucalyptus largiflorens woodlands and locally rather common.
Sclerolaena ramsayae (J.H. Willis) A.J. Scott was described from plants (collected near Benetook) that are now believed to be of hybrid origin with Sclerochlamys brachyptera as one parent.
