Leucopogon virgatus var. virgatus
Branchlets and leaves glabrous, rarely minutely pubescent, with longer scattered hairs; leaves lanceolate to narrowly lanceolate (5–)7–25 mm long, acuminate, with a ± pungent apex. Flowers Jun.–Oct.
LoM, Wim, GleP, Brid, VVP, GipP, OtP, WaP, Gold, CVU, GGr, DunT, NIS, EGL, EGU, WPro, HSF, HNF, OtR, MonT, VAlp. Also SA, ACT, Qld, NSW, Tas. Widespread and common in heathlands, woodlands and other drier forests developed on infertile, often sandy soils, but apparently absent from mallee communities (where replaced by var. brevifolius).
A variable taxon, but a rather distinctive form with relatively broad leaves, more or less truncate at the base, occurs on and near the Major Mitchell Plateau in the Grampians.
