Leptinella filicula
(Hook.f.) Hook.f. Mountain CotulaStoloniferous, variably pilose perennial; stems prostrate, sparsely branched. Leaves oblong to ovate in outline, mostly 2–5 cm long and 6–15 mm wide, usually pinnatisect, often with some irregular secondary toothing, primary pinnae crowded; petiole 0–2 cm long. Capitula 6–9 mm diam.; peduncles 1–2 cm long, erect, stout, elongating to c. 6 cm in fruit; involucral bracts many, oblong to broad-ovate, 2–4 mm long, obtuse. Outer florets 3- or 4-seriate, sessile; corolla minute, glandular. Cypselas oblong, 1.5–2 mm long, compressed, with a thick narrow wing, surmounted by persistent corolla. Flowers Nov.–Mar.
Wim, GleP, VRiv, OtP, Gold, CVU, NIS, EGL, EGU, HSF, HNF, MonT, HFE, VAlp. Also NSW, ACT, Tas. Mostly found in cooler, damper forests of the Eastern Highlands, with isolated western records near Bacchus Marsh and Macedon. Common on bare ground (between grass tussocks, road and track verges etc.).
