Pultenaea spinosa
(DC.) H.B.Will. Grey Bush-peaShrub to 2 m high; stems terete, glabrous, rarely pubescent to villous, often tinged red. Leaves in whorls of 3, ovate to broadly rhombic, 8–20 mm long, 10–20 mm wide, often glaucous; apex obtuse; midrib produced into a prominent, pungent mucro; surfaces glabrous, the lower prominently palmate-veined, darker than upper; margin flat; stipules triangular, 1–2 mm long. Inflorescence subterminal, flowers axillary, solitary; pedicels 5–6 mm long; bracts absent; calyx 6–9 mm long, glabrous; bracteoles attached at base of calyx tube, subulate, 2–4 mm long, glabrous; standard 12–15 mm wide; ovary and style glabrous. Pod ovate, turgid, beaked, glabrous. Flowers Sep.–Nov.
VRiv, GipP, CVU, NIS, EGL, EGU, HSF, HNF, VAlp. Also Qld, NSW, ACT. Scattered in dry forests on mountain slopes in the north-east, often on granite (e.g. Mt Samaria, Mitta Mitta, Mt Granya, Howqua River, Dargo area, upper Snowy River).
Possible hybrids with Pultenaea foliolosa have been observed near Moyhu where both species, together with a variety of intermediates, occur.
