Elachanthus pusillus

Ascending, green or grey-green herb to c. 8 cm high, usually branched from base, young stems finely pubescent. Leaves linear, 6–12 mm long, c. 0.5 mm wide, plano-convex or grooved on upper surface, sparsely pubescent or finally glabrous. Capitula 5–8 mm long; involucral bracts ovate to obovate, 2.5–5 mm long, minutely ciliate at apex; outer florets c. 5–15, corolla greenish, c. 2 mm long, shorter than pappus. Cypselas cuneate, c. 2.5 mm long, densely white- to golden-sericeous all over; pappus scales prominent, whitish, 10–15, narrow-elliptic or lanceolate, fimbriate, 2.5–3.5 mm long (those of abortive inner florets 3–5, c. 1 mm long). Flowers Aug.–Oct.
