2 subspecies, only the typical subspecies in Victoria. See Corymbia citriodora subsp. citriodora profile for description. Corymbia citriodora subsp. variegata (F.Muell.) A.R.Bean & M.W.McDonald has previously been recognised as a distinct species. However, the differences between the two taxa are only slight, with scent of crushed leaves being the only reliable distinguishing feature.
