Plants 0.75–2 mm tall. Leaves strongly incurved when moist, imbricate when dry, broadly ovate, 0.5–0.8 mm long, deeply concave in apical half; apices mucronate; costa adaxially with 2–3 (–4) lamellae, percurrent or short-excurrent, not forming a hair-point; margins entire, incurved in apical half; laminal cells in apical half subquadrate 11–13 μm long, 14–16 μm wide; basal cells rectangular 25–30 μm long, 25–38 μm wide. Seta 3–5 mm long, reddish. Capsules erect, ovoid, 0.9–1 mm long. Operculum c. 0.6 mm long.
MuF. Restricted to clay pans in the north-west. Also WA, SA and NSW. South Africa.
