Tall biennial, perennial, or sometimes annual herbs, glabrous. Leaves 3–4-pinnate, segments filiform; petiole hollow, sheathing at base. Inflorescence a compound umbel; bracts and bracteoles usually absent. Flowers bisexual; sepals forming a thickened rim at ovary apex; petals oblong to obovate, apex inrolled inwards; nectary conical. Fruit slightly compressed laterally; mericarps with 5 prominent and equal ribs; carpophore bifid.
5 species, from the Mediterranean region through Europe to western Asia; 1 species naturalised in Australia.
