Rounded greyish shrub, 70–180 cm high. Leaves obovate to cuneate, 4–10 mm long, 2–5 mm wide, obtuse, surfaces white-grey-tomentose. Capitula 3–8 mm diam.; involucral bracts oblong to obovate, 3–7 mm long, obtuse, sparsely pubescent, ciliate, green tinged with red or brown. Florets 4–6; corollas 10–12 mm long, white. Fertile cypselas narrow-cylindric to clavate, 6–7 mm long; pappus with 50–100 bristles 8–10 mm long; abortive cypselas terete, 3–5 mm long; pappus with 40–60 bristles 8–10 mm long. Flowers Sep.–Dec.
